Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Major

by admin last modified Jan 12, 2017 09:28 AM

Students majoring in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SA&FS) focus on the social, economic and environmental aspects of food and agriculture - from farm to table and beyond.  The program is designed to help students obtain a diversity of knowledge and skills, both in the classroom and through personal experiences both on and off campus.

Prospective students should read enrollment details regarding the major.

Current students and faculty seeking advising forms and other planning tools can visit the SA&FS Academic Planning Resources section

The Students for Sustainable Agriculture Club, AKA SSA, is back in action with new vision!

Five dedicated students, including your current peer advisors, are in the process of repurposing the club with a purpose:

  • to connect community members who are passionate about sustainable agriculture and supporting our food system
  • to introduce students with common values around agriculture and food access to one another
  • to engage this community in food system activities
  • to help sustain majors that focus on sustainability, food, and agriculture
  • and to create a CSA, or community supported academics, space for students to get their academic questions  answered

In the hopes of better engaging the entire sustainable agriculture and food systems community, not only our major, we are claiming a new name for the club RE: SSA, AKA Responsible Eating: Students for Sustainable Agriculture.

Meetings are held Wednesdays, weekly, from 5-6p in the Eco Hub. Check out our website, our Facebook, and our Instagram. Hope to see you there!
