The deadline to apply for travel grants to the 2018 SARE conference, held April 3-5, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri, is January 2, 2018.

Who may apply for this scholarship?

Any California-based agricultural professional whose position involves the provision of agricultural production, conservation, or marketing information to agricultural producers at all scales.

This includes:

    • UC Cooperative Extension Advisor, Specialists, Program Representatives, etc.
    • Federal, state and local agency staff who implement programs for agricultural producers (e.g. NRCS, RCDs, CDFA, etc.)
    • Staff of non-profit organizations whose primary mission includes implementation of extension and technical assistance programs for agricultural producers.

Note: “agricultural producers” is interpreted broadly to include producers at all scales, including urban farmers and gardeners.

What is the due date?

All applications must be received by January 2, 2018, 11:59 pm to be considered.

 


What are my obligations if I receive a scholarship?

    • You must register for the conference by February 22, 2018 to receive the early registration discount.
    • You must save all expense receipts for submission after travel is completed.
    • You will need to complete an evaluation survey and submit a brief summary of your experiences prior to receiving reimbursement, and within one month after completing travel.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All travel expenses will be reimbursed AFTER travel is completed. No funds can be extended in advance of travel. Please be prepared to fund your travel initially from other sources.

 


What types of expenses are eligible for reimbursement?

    • Conference registration fee (early registration)
    • Hotel room (see conference website for conference hotel information)
    • Meals and other per diem expenses: up to $54/day, or $41 on first and last day of travel (note: only documented, actual expenses will be reimbursed)
    • Economy class airfare for most direct available route from your city of origin to St. Louis
    • Ground transportation, including parking charges, taxi, shuttles, etc.
