Help growers enhance environmental quality while maintaining yields and profits

BIFS projects used on-farm demonstrations and a collaborative model of outreach and extension involving public-private partnerships.  BIFS projects demonstrated that when participating growers had evidence that yields and profits could be maintained with more environmentally-sound farming practices, they often adopted these practices on most of their acreage. Furthermore, many non-participating growers were exposed to innovative practices through project outreach activities.

There were many encouraging outcomes that emerged as a result of our BIFS projects.  Below is a description of the BIFS program and archive of the projects funded through BIFS, highlighting much of SAREP's role in projects that are designed, led and implemented by groups of farmers.  The collaborative process created by BIFS continues to influence SAREP and ASI's work and research agendas.

BIFS Projects concluded in 2010.
