UC Multi-campus Inventory of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems

by Mariah Coley last modified Aug 01, 2016 11:58 AM
The UC Multi-campus Inventory of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems is a cross-campus effort led by UC SAREP to document and showcase the initiatives in sustainable agriculture and food systems in place across the UC. This includes programs, practices, and social networks contributing to research, outreach, and education.

The Inventory is an effort to connect UC campuses and researchers addressing sustainable agriculture and food systems in order to showcase UC achievements and contributions, to enhance UC’s ability to respond to our stakeholders’ needs, and ensure that UC’s activities or initiatives in these areas are accessible and useful.

Project objectives include:

  • Creating a directory of UC programs involved in (or contributing to) sustainable agriculture or food systems research, outreach, or education
  • Documentation of practices to which UC entities have made significant contributions for sustainable agriculture or food systems work - within California and beyond
  • Analysis of the sustainable agriculture social and knowledge networks in the UC, serving to identify the most important means and directions of information exchange within and among institutions and campuses

This project is supported by the UC Office of the President's Global Food Initiative (GFI). Our team includes UC SAREP staff; advisors and undergraduate students from UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, and UC Berkeley; a graduate student at UC Davis; and we are advised by the GFI subcommittee on sustainable agriculture research.

The UC Programs | Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems directory enables easy access to information about UC's programmatic activities in sustainable agriculture and food systems. The directory can be searched and sorted by activities and topic areas. This tool is useful for:

  • Institutions and individuals seeking to expand their networks
  • UC researchers, staff, outreach professionals, and students seeking opportunities for collaboration or learning across campuses
  • Prospective undergraduate or graduate students interested in knowing more about UC's contributions to these fields
  • Media and other external entities seeking to quickly access relevant information on UC's activities in broad or specific areas of sustainable agriculture and food systems

This directory will complement other upcoming products of the UC MISAS project, including an inventory of practical contributions and an accessible network analysis of the UC individuals in these fields.

Please note: the directory is currently under development and information within is likely to change. Please contact if you experience issues with this webpage.
