The Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis has long partnered with philanthropic foundations, forward-thinking companies and interested individuals to solve pressing problems and create a sustainable future for agriculture. Donors play an instrumental role in advancing discovery, innovation and change beyond what can be achieved by relying solely on campus funds and government grants. Philanthropic donations enable ASI to attract and support the best minds of today and tomorrow — faculty and students who are working across disciplines and solving the complex problems of an interconnected world.
We invite you to join this landmark effort.
ASI is committed to partnering with visionary donors to build an endowment to set the agenda for sustainable agriculture and food systems. By making a gift to the ASI endowment, a donor:
- Provides academic “venture capital” so faculty can explore novel ways of creating a more sustainable future for agriculture
|
---|
- Supports current and future generations of students interested in agriculture and food systems
|
- Enables research to be shared with a greater number of farmers and ranchers throughout California, as well as nationally and internationally
|
Donors can also support programs of ASI including:
- The Student Farm is where students have a chance to learn through hands on activities the most current practices in sustainable and organic farming. Your gift to the Student Farm allow us to expand our programs to offer experiences that inspire, challenge, enlighten, and empower more students, at deeper levels, than ever before. Give online to Student Farm here or contact Melissa Haworth at mdhaworth@ucdavis.edu.

- The Sustainable Living and Learning Communities are spaces that provide students with opportunities to gather hands-on experience related to farming/gardening, composting, design-build projects, democratic decision making, cooperative living, and an array of related topics. Additionally, SLLC organizations work together to maintain their common space and to collaborate on projects. Distinct from traditional classroom-based pedagogies, the SLLC emphasizes experiential learning in less formal environments. SLLC “classes” often happen in small garden plots, communal living spaces, or construction sites; the “curricula” provide ways for students to immediately utilize the concepts they are learning, and are often co-created between students and instructors.

You may give to UC Davis in a variety of ways: with cash, a check or credit card; by contributing securities, real estate or other personal property; by making a bequest or through other planned giving arrangements. Gifts-in-kind of relevant equipment and supplies are also accepted.
Just as the strength of a farm is carried in its many crops and the people who plant and tend them, so must our endowment be grown one gift at a time. We appreciate the many donors who have supported ASI. Click here to see a complete list of our supporters.
